Climbing in Timbeewah (near Noosa Heads)

Nice climbing on Sunday with Noosa locals (Matt and Justin) in Mt. Timbeewah. And the following days to rest the arms just a few hours of surf... ;-)

This is Matt, a master of the stone, really good climber!! He shotted lots of photos hanging in another route.

Climbing a really nice route grade 21 (is a 6c French grade, pretty difficult, eh! Escaladors/es)

Nice place to climb with amazing views.

Last hours in Brisbane, Crystal Waters and Noosa

Last night in University of Queensland (SOS forum) was great: A "skirt" party where all the people should wear skirt. Some men took the change and got really dressed as "beautiful" women (you can imagine). I'm sorry but I have no one photo of this crazy party, but some of my clothes still have pink paint... So: live music, skirt, paint, and lots of laugh!! And some spanish too I practice my spanish with Patricia (nice "asturiana" girl) and Levi (authentic mexican guy).

Following day, there was another party in a friend's place, I'm getting old and more than two parties are too much, so took really easy, anyway Sophie and her group play nice music to relax. And then was the time for Crystal Waters comunity...

The hosts and the guests.

Belive or not, I drank only one beer, but cooking with an australian, an israeli and a mexican is so funny...

Cool house and nice people around...

Crystal Waters comunity is near Melany, one hour and a half driving from Brisbane. It is a group of people living in their own farms, sharing resources, comunity decision and knowledge. Most of them practice the permaculture (permanent + culture) and they are really conscious about sostenibility and their enviroment. We stayed in the Visitor's area, where you pay the first night and then you can work for paying your accomodation (cool!!). We stayed there a full week, share good moments with the people (levi, the mexican; Amy, the Tazy; Sophie, Syd; Noam, the israeli; Corey, the crazy abor guy; Ant, the artist, Sam, the oz traveler; Justin, NZ traveler; John...). Apart from working a couple of days, there was a relaxing days: swimming, chatting, making and playing Dijee*,...
I got a special memories of that days, difficult to describe, but for sure very important and full of new ideas.
Levi, the mexican guy. I love the mexican accent!!

In Crystal waters probably there are more kangaroos than humans and they are pretty friendly.

No comment... (Levi con esta foto vas a ligar un monton!!)

Sophie (after a hardworking day ;-) and an "Arnold", the muscled kangaroo.

Levi and the big guys of visitors area in Crystal waters (Corey and Ant).

After the relax of Crystal Waters, I drove to the touristic place, Noosa. Beatiful beaches, spectacular National Park, and a cool backpackers place (10$ for using their facilities, free surfboard, free kayak).
From the Noosa Heads, while doing some boulding, I saw a couple of whales very, very close to the coast (like 15 m?) amazing!!! An unforgotten view, believe me!! Sorry no time for photo...:-(
I shared some chats, card game,... with three french beatiful girls and a cool englishman (not the typical english who use to run around the east coast ;-)
I've been surfing some days and I'm getting more feeling, the pity is north from here you can't surf because of sharks and the reef :-( That's why i'm stayed more than I was planned.

Last days in Byron, National Parks and Brisbane

Last days in Byron were really variated: some ioga classes at early morning, surfing for several hours and going out. Ioga classes in Byron was a good place to meet some interesting people: some travelers with difference experiences to share (This country is full of travelers!!). Surfing with bigger waves was an experience completly different: so much difficult and so much speed when you caught them (more adrenaline too!!), I can't wait the next time I'll be riding a wave! The
nightlife in Byron is so variated, but if you are looking for a place to drink and dance, you'll find exactly this and lots of fun. I shared good time there with Dave, a canadian mate who is traveling North too (easy to find him again in our way). I have a really good memories from Byron and the people I met there (thanks Celene, Dave, Matthias,... I hope to see you again).

After Byron, I drove to NightCap National Park, where I stayed a couple of days hiking, and enjoying the rainforest. There I met Tinyan, and thanks to her now I'm here in the University of Queensland, but I'll explain that later.

From Byron beach I saw a beatiful mountain in the skyline, and I proposed myself to climb it. So, that's the reason why I investigated the name of the mountain, and then how to arrive there. Result: The mount Warning is a very well-know place because of its views and its quite typical to climb the mountain to see the sunrise from the summit. So, here we go!! In the bottom of the moutain, where there is an picnic area (this country is amazing, full of picnic areas, so no problems at all to find places where sleep), I met Gareth, an australian mate with same intentions as mine. After a beer (thanks Gareth) and a nice chat we planned the climb together for the next morning (4AM). Beatiful views from the top, a bit crowded because of weekend, but beautiful anyway.

After Mount Warning, I went to The Channon market, an alternative market in Nimbin "vibs" so driving there I picked up Shakshi, a guy involved in a community of Love close to Mnt Warning (I'll visit you mate!!), interesting chatting and new ideas from a really amazing mate.

Lamington National Park is probably the most recomenended National Park of this zone, and now I understand why. Beatiful falls, ancient trees and 160 km to hike!! Stayed there couple of days before driving to Brisbane.

As a result of Tinyan meeting I drove directly to the University of Queensland to take a look in this Forum of sustainability and enviroment. I liked the vibs of the people and decided to stay here. Interesting conference and workshops, and the people who assist too (most of them students).

In spite of the forum I couldn't resist the temptation to go to Kangaroo's Point, THE urban climb in Australia, lots of routes and nice place to spend the day (like "the fuixarda" in Barcelona, but with better infrastucture). I climbed with Gareth and Xavier (not me an australian one, belive or not!) and got the climb feeling again, so after the climb I wnet directly to the mountain shp and I got the climb stuff I needed for 70$ and now I can join climbers while traveling... hope it's a good idea... we'll see.

This is Brisbane city from the CityCat (fast ferry). This city seems a really cool place to live...

First Surfing experience

Yesterday I felt my first experience riding the waves. The experience was amazing!! I felt real good sensations, I felt surfing is quite similar to snowboarding and I applied similar techniques, and it worked. Anyway, using a long board it is not so difficult to catch the waves... later when I took a shorter one catching the wave was harder but riding it so much easy.

Probably I'll stay some days in this special place:

East Coast 1: Nelson Bay, Nimbin, Byron Bay...

Last nights in Sydney were really great:

Brad, Paula, Mariela, Lloyd. Nice people around ... iu know...

Having a great time with these beatiful argetinians girls. I love these soft accent...

I've been traveling for four days and a lot of things happened, iu know, when traveling it's quitte often...

First night in Nelson Bay was really freezing, iu know I'm a "prepared" man so I'm using two sleeping bags (one inside the other). In the photo you see the beatiful sunrise in Lemontree passage, what a calm and quiet place.

There are so beatiful beaches and natural parks close to Nelson Bay (from tomaree nat. park I saw the first whales, amazing!! They were really far and you could see the big splashes). Samurai Beach is a nude and surf beach so you can imagine what kind of place it is... The water is so blue... I think I've never seen a water like these anywhere.

After these moments of peaces, always has to happen something to make yourself to move, you understand, right? So, after 200 km more, the power steering of my "beast" just said enough and f. I put a test on my "climber" arms and I arrived to the closest town. There I found a really good mechanic. He told me to spend the night there so, take patience and spend the rest of the day and next morning reading and chating with a german guy who cooked an awsome bacon with eggs (germans are everywhere...).

Spent the next day driving to the north, I had to arrive to Byron bay on Saturday to meet Juan and his gang. Beatiful beaches and people surfing in seven miles beach and my first Dolphin!! playing with the surfers. I stopped in grafton and tried to spend the night there, but... no way...There was a beatiful park, but Friday night all the young of town take theirs cars and make "an arrive" there so I stayed there for a while and then come back to the road. Finally I found a beatiful area (New Italy museum) and next morning, while doing some ioga exercices, I saw the first kangaroo just three meters from me, what an amazing jumps!!!

To arrive to Byron Bay, I took the coast road so I visit Ballina, a nice coast city with river. And Lennox heads, from where you can see Byron cape far away...nice views. Met there some nice girls (Yvonne, german and Ciska, dutsch) enjoyable chat and some advices (ciska has been traveling around Australia for 3 years).

Byron bay is a perfect place, you've got everything you need in this live (sun, beach, surf, night life, travelers,...) . I met there Juan and then just go to Nimbin to meet his finnish and french friends.

Nimbin is a completly "out of map" town, it is really tiny (only one small street). It's full of people who is living an "alternative" way of live. You can find too the paradise for the pot addicts... this is the"tourist" view of the town.

I think I'm going to stay some days in Byron bay, we'll see what happen...
