Townsville, Cairns, Diving, Daintree,...

Townsville is the capital of north Queensland, pretty big city and, apart from magnetic island, it is not a crowded turistic site. I spent there some days, looking for climbers: nice places to climb there. It was a pitty because all the people I contacted answered when I was already in Cairns :-( So, no climb in Townsville, just a bouldering afternoon.

One of the lovely parks where you can spend a windy afternoon near Townsville (windsurfers, some kite's flying there, amazing!! I couldn't get one... :-( ).

After the big city, I needed some peace and quiet so I looked for the famous wet tropics national parks between Townsville and Cairns. The next days were really calm and alone.

After the rainforest, I looked for the beach again and it was in Mission Beach where I discovered a nice place away from the main turistic route. I met there some alternative travelers and shared some beers together...

The adrenaline of the rafting in Tully gorge. They sell it as an "extreme" rafting. Well, it's not really extreme, but people got injured and you have some freedom to make crazy things (like swim in white water). Really good time and nice people around group: Two Aussies, one canadian, one polish, two italians and one catalan. By the way, Do you recognize me? Am I in the photo? jeje.

Before arriving to Cairns I saw a beatiful peak from the road and just wanted to climb it. This is the picture form the summit. Fecking steep, too hot and my first real snake in Oz, I don't know who was more scared she or me, anyway I'm still alive...

The main objective in Cairns was to dive and get the Openwater certificate, so 2nd day there I found a ship who was in the great reef barrier and I agreed to work there for my accomodation and free dive. That's how I get my Openwater certificate, met crazy people and had a really good time.

In the reef I saw: turtles, sharks, manta ray, lots of multicolor fishes and coral. It's f. really good, so if you ever visit Oz, you "must" dive (or, at least, snorkeling) in the reef.

The sunrise from the "dungeon", where the "hosties" (cheap workers) spend the night in the ship. I shared the "room" with a beautiful austrian girl, called Heidi ;-)

The ship was pretty big. This is the helicopter landing on the boat, amazing, eh?!

After the time in the reef, I came back to Cairns and met Levi, the Mexican guy from Crystal waters, having breakfast in the hostel. We had a great time in the city and visited some sites around Cairns.

The Baroon gorge clase to Kuranda is a nice place to swim and do "stupid" balance exercices on the water... ;-P (Shit I realized I'm getting f. skinny!!, I need the spanish food and get back to work!!!).



Another great place to swim, Mossman gorge, I found a hole where there was no one in km. so you can imagine... a real paradise.

North of Carns begins the York Cape, the huge northest corn of Australia. I arrived to Cape Tribulation, where the sealed road ends and you need a 4wd to keep going through the coast.

I told you!! I didn't lie! A beautiful female, his partner is 5.5 meters long, we couldn't find him, what a pity!
